The Lovely Eggs are just brilliant!' - Huw Stephens, Radio One
'You won't hear another band like this anywhere between now and the the end of the millenium.
They have become well known for their live performances and have played everywhere from Amsterdam squats and Los Angeles scrap yards to steam trains in Ripley and charity shops in Leeds! The Lovely Eggs have supported Shonen Knife, The Slits, The Television Personalities and Art Brut, recorded with the legendary Jad Fair and Gruff Rhys and John Shuttleworth have made cameo appearances in their videos. Their dare-to-be different approach to music (producing everything from 4 minute spine chilling melodies about death to 10 second noise blasts about shit jobs) has seen them record sessions for BBC Radio One, BBC 6 Music and XFM as well as being played by Huw Stephens, Marc Riley, Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne, Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie, Shaun Keavney, Rob Da Bank, Tom Robinson, Gideon Coe, John Kennedy, Jon Hillcock and Tom Ravenscroft. With observational and often surreal lyrics about life, The Lovely Eggs have a powerful stripped down sound: one vintage guitar amp, one Big Muff distortion pedal, a guitar and a drum kit. Fiercely, constantly in search of the good times. True to this, they live the way they play.
For them being in a band is a way of life. The Lovely Eggs are an underground punk-rock duo from northern England and have a fierce punk rock ethos that music should have no rules.
